Birth chart, forecasts, numerology: your sky explained in detail

Birth chart, astrocartography cities, forecasts for the year, marriage, numerology: from a distance these readings look alike, but each one asks for different things and starts from a different calculation. Here is what Profondio really does for each, and how to read them without turning them into certainties.
What you give us, and how the sky is calculated
The birth chart, astrocartography and the marriage reading ask for your date, time and place of birth. The place does two things: it finds the time zone of the day you were born, to convert your local time, and it locates the Ascendant and the houses. If you do not know your time, the program takes noon and tells you so. The forecasts start from your Sun sign. Numerology asks for your date and your full name at birth, as it appears on your birth certificate.
The positions of the planets are never guessed. They are calculated with astronomy-engine, an astronomy library, from the Sun to Pluto, in the tropical zodiac. Chiron is not part of it: Profondio reads it from a table taken from JPL, valid from 1900 to 2050. The Ascendant, the Midheaven and the twelve houses follow the Placidus system, with equal houses at latitudes where it can no longer be calculated. Only then is a text written from these results, with no right to contradict them.
The birth chart, section by section
It is read in two tabs. The one for signs has nineteen sections: the Sun, the Moon, the Ascendant, the planets from Mercury to Pluto, Chiron, the two nodes, the phase of the Moon at your birth, the Midheaven, then three trends on the spread of the elements, the modalities and the hemispheres. The one for houses has fourteen and looks at which area of your life each placement acts in.
A placement section, or the phase of the Moon, is written in five parts: the essence, the feeling, the strengths, the challenges, and everyday life. The three trends take just one paragraph. Each section is written when you open it, then kept as long as your date, time and place do not change.
Astrocartography: lines, then cities
For the moment of your birth, the program looks for where on Earth each of the ten planets, Sun and Moon included, stood at the top of the sky, at the bottom of the sky, on the eastern horizon or on the western horizon. That makes four lines per planet. A city is said to be on a line when it is less than 700 kilometers from it. Among a hundred big cities, each planet keeps at most six, with their distance.
One limit to know about: an hour's difference shifts the world by about fifteen degrees under the sky, and the lines with it. Without your time, the map is drawn for noon. Take it as something to reflect on, not as a verdict on where to live.
The forecasts for the year
They depend neither on your time nor on your place, only on your sign. The program calculates the sky's appointments for the current year: solar and lunar eclipses, the periods when Mercury, Venus and Mars go retrograde, and the moments when Jupiter and Saturn enter a new sign. Each one is placed in your solar house: the signs are counted starting from your own.
Seven chapters follow: your year at a glance, love, work and money, personal growth, the sky's key moments for you, the quarters and seven pieces of advice. One limit to know about: two people of the same sign, the same gender and the same language read the same text. It is a sign reading, not a personal chart.
The marriage reading
It is based on your full chart and on two dated windows. The program looks at the next twenty-four months and notes Jupiter's contacts with your Venus, your Descendant, your Sun and your Moon. It keeps the two best months, at least four months apart, and each one becomes a two-month window, calculated the first time you open it and then kept.
Eight chapters follow: your love path, how to spot and read the marriage line on your hand, your marriage house, fifteen affirmations, three tarot arcana drawn once for you, how to recognize the right person, three scenes from your wedding day with ideas of destinations for the honeymoon, and finally recommendations for your main window, a personal letter and the recap of your reading. A window is not a wedding date: it is a period when the sky is open to commitment, nothing more. To look at what is going on between two people, there is compatibility with someone who matters.
Numerology, number by number
Everything is calculated with the Pythagorean table: A is worth 1, B is worth 2, up to I which is worth 9, then J goes back to 1. Your life path comes from your date: the day, the month and the year are each reduced on their own, then added together, keeping 11, 22 and 33. The expression number counts all the letters of your name, the soul number the vowels (Y counts among them), the personality number the consonants. The subconscious self counts how many of the nine values appear in your name.
Added to these are four challenges, drawn from the gaps between the reduced day, month and year of birth, and three personal numbers for the current day, month and year. A challenge equal to zero is not a lack: no lesson is imposed, you choose them all. The text for a number is written once, then kept: two people who have the same number, the same gender and the same language will therefore read the same one.

It also explains why the time matters: an Ascendant calculated without a time may be wrong, because it changes sign about every two hours, while the planets stay fairly accurate.
What these readings do not do
These are symbolic readings. They do not tell you what is going to happen to you and they do not decide for you: not where to live, not whom to marry, not when to start. The positions of the planets are facts of astronomy, but the meaning given to them comes from a tradition of symbols, not from a measurement.
The texts are written automatically from the calculations, so they may resemble each other from one person to another. Read them the way you look at a portrait: some features will speak to you, others will not, and you can set aside what does not look like you.

Have your date of birth ready, your time if you know it (it is often shown on the birth certificate), your city of birth and your full name. Start with the birth chart, or with the guide if you prefer to understand before reading. There is no hurry: each section opens whenever you want.
